We have received quite a few inquiries about where Aarhus is, and how to get there from various places in Denmark, so we decided to post this little summary of our transportation tips and guidelines. The following information about how to get to Aarhus, can also be found here, at our website, while more information about local transportation is available here.
Aarhus is situated on the Jutlandic peninsula in Northern Europe, which means you can go by car or train from any of the North European countries. Furthermore, there are flights from several destinations throughout the world to four major airports in Denmark. If you arrive in Copenhagen Airport – the largest in Scandinavia – you can either choose to fly on to Billund Airport, Aalborg Airport or Aarhus Airport, or you can travel by train or rent a car (Aarhus is about 300 km from Copenhagen, and it takes about 3,5 hours to travel by both car and train, depending on traffic).
It is even possible to take a train straight from the Copenhagen Airport to Aarhus Central Station (alternatively named Aarhus H, short for Aarhus Hovedbanegård). For travelling by train within Denmark, the following websites provides more information, as well as provides information about schedules and tickets: rejseplanen.dk or dsb.dk. For more information about the different airports, you can read more here.
Regarding car rental, Europcar is the official car partner of EMACS 2017. All participants can book and get discounts on car rental in connection with EMACS. Book directly online at www.europcar.com or email@example.com using promotion code: 53 27 44 85. For further information contact firstname.lastname@example.org
As for transportation in the Greater Aarhus Area, you can see information about time schedules and stops for the local network of busses at www.midttrafik.dk
EMACS offers frequent shuttle busses between the two main venues, Ceres Park & Arena and Viby Stadium and a shuttle bus will run between Ceres Park & Arena and selected hotels and gathering points downtown Aarhus. These busses will run multiple times every hour, during the stadia’s opening hours and are free for EMACS athletes and (accredited) accompanying persons.
