- European Masters Athletics Championships Stadia, Aarhus 2017
Summer in Aarhus will be devoted to athletics when the European Masters Athletics Championships Stadia (EMACS) 2017 takes place from 27th July to 6th August. EMACS will present tough and entertaining track and field events, race walk, and half marathon competitions. The event is organized, under license from the European Masters Association, by the local athletics club, Aarhus 1900 A/M, in cooperation with the Danish Athletics Association, Aarhus Municipality, Central Denmark Region and Sports Event Denmark. So, you know the experience and expertise to make this a great event is in place.
More than 4,000 athletes from 40 nations
The organizer expect more than 4,000 athletes and up to 4,000 additional visitors from more than 40 countries to attend. Participating athletes must be 35+ and will compete in age intervals of five years – the oldest participants are expected to be more than 100 years old! For those who enjoy watching athletics this is a gem that will be one of the truly big events in Aarhus this year.
At Ceres Park, Viby Stadium, and other venues
During the eleven days of the EMACS 2017 event, there will be a full programme at the refurbished city stadium, Ceres Park, in the surrounding streets, and at the new suburban facilities at Viby Stadium. And not only will EMACS take place, but there will be a number of related side events, such as a sports expo, a publicly open half marathon, an elder-walk – and the general assembly of the EMA will be held as well.
With all these events, and with neighbouring facilities in a city in progress, designated European Capital of Culture in 2017, we are convinced that we are able to create the perfect setting for many new records and great sporting moments. So come and join (or watch) an exciting event with some of the best of athletics around.
See you in Aarhus in 2017!
